19 of the Russian's 21 championships have been earned on hard surfaces

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his maiden trophy for 882 days with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a torrid year, achieving just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a meltdown at the American major.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and issues with his service game in particular - caused him dropping out of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with former trainer Cervara.

Presently working with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, he has steadily progressed in the last few weeks - culminating in a closely contested three-set triumph over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's first title since the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hardcourt after March of the previous year.

Success also signifies the Russian has secured twenty-one championships at twenty-one various events.

"For the first time I'm at a tournament with my children at once, so to secure a championship is especially meaningful," said ranked player Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the first title I achieved when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had been defeated in his past six title deciders, including in that event previously this season.

His counter-punching strategy and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had prompted commentators to question if his ability to compete at the highest level was concluded.

Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to advance forward and compete assertively, supported by an enhanced service.

The champion recovered from a deficit in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, securing four of the concluding five games to gain the advantage.

The competitors traded service breaks in the following set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden tour championship, took control to push for a final set.

The opponent rescued four early-game break points in a competitive deciding set before the champion broke to 15 to close out the victory.

Suitably, Medvedev secured victory with a shot at the front of the court, with Moutet incapable to manage a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
